For hosting providers on Chatwoot Community

The AI the Community edition lacks, without changing plans

Most hosting providers self-host Chatwoot in its free Community edition. It does not include Captain, the vendor’s AI, which is reserved for paid plans. 0seat brings AI to it: replies prepared from your own conversations, the customer’s WHMCS record, handoff to a human. One price per space, whatever the number of agents.

Why your free edition has no AI

Captain is a paid feature

The vendor’s AI ships with its cloud plans and its paid self-hosted plans, billed per agent per month, with a credit allowance per plan on the cloud. The Community edition, the one in the public repository, does not include it.

Paying per agent changes the maths

Moving to a paid plan to get Captain means paying for every agent every month: on the cloud with credits per plan, to be bought again when they run out; self-hosted, with no published credit quota. The price follows the size of the team, not the work done.

Captain does not advertise WHMCS

Even on a paid plan, the vendor’s AI answers from your articles and conversations; no WHMCS integration is advertised on its pages. A suspended service, an expired domain, a pending invoice: without that reading, a reply cannot speak to them.

What 0seat adds to your instance

Prepared replies, with their sources

When the approved knowledge base has an answer, 0seat posts a private note with a prepared reply, along with the entries behind it. The agent sends, edits or discards it; the customer sees nothing before that. Otherwise, the conversation goes to an agent.

A knowledge base drawn from your conversations, approved by you

Every night, your resolved conversations produce candidate entries. Nothing is used before a human has approved it.

The WHMCS record in the reply

The customer’s services, domains, invoices and orders, read-only through a closed list of actions, for a reply that speaks to their actual situation.

Handoff enforced by code

Money, disputes, cancellations, a request for a human: the conversation goes to an agent, with the reason. In autopilot, these conversations never get an automatic reply.

Three ways to get AI on your instance

Each vendor’s public prices, checked on the date shown. 0seat’s is the price of the Standard plan.

  • Chatwoot Community alone

    Free: 0 USD

No AI: your agents write every reply themselves.

  • Chatwoot with Captain

19 to 99 USD per agent per month

On Cloud, Startups, Business and Enterprise at 19, 39 and 99 USD per agent with 300, 500 and 800 credits per month; self-hosted, Premium Support at 19 USD and Enterprise at 99 USD per agent. No WHMCS integration advertised.

  • Chatwoot Community with 0seat

$19 excluding tax per space per month

As many agents as you want, every inbox of the account, the WHMCS record in each reply, handoff and a knowledge base you approve. Models at measured cost × 1.5, capped at $100 per space per month.

Exact requirements

  1. A Chatwoot instance, self-hosted or cloud

The Community edition is enough: 0seat only uses the account API and webhooks, present in every edition, on a version the vendor maintains. No vendor AI feature is required.

  2. An account administrator API token

Created in the profile of an administrator of your instance. 0seat uses it to create its agent bot and attach it to the inboxes you choose; it is encrypted on save and never shown again.

  3. Private notes allowed on the channels involved

Prepared replies are private notes: your instance must allow them on the channels involved.

  4. WHMCS, optional, with a read-only API role

Without WHMCS, 0seat works; the reply then has no customer record. With it, an API role limited to the ten actions read is enough: the guide walks through it.

Not on Chatwoot?

0seat has no connector for another support tool, and promises none. It needs a Chatwoot instance; the free, open-source Community edition is enough. If you are considering moving to it, write to us: we will tell you honestly whether the migration makes sense for you, and we can host an unmodified instance for you, on request.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a paid Chatwoot plan?

No. 0seat works on the Community edition as well as on paid and cloud plans: it only uses the API and webhooks. It does not need Captain.

Does 0seat modify my instance?

No. No module, no fork, nothing to install on your server: 0seat creates one agent bot through the API, one per space, and attaches it to the inboxes you enable. You remove it by deleting the space.

Do replies go out on their own?

Only if you choose. In draft mode, every reply arrives as a private note and an agent decides. In autopilot, a reply goes out on its own in the categories where agents sent at least 90 % of drafts unchanged, or in every category if the owner or an administrator forces the inbox. Money, disputes, cancellations and requests for a person always go to an agent, and the server refuses autopilot outright on a payments inbox or an unofficial WhatsApp channel.

What does 0seat cost for a team of eight agents?

The same as for one: the plan is priced per space, that is, per connected Chatwoot account, whatever the number of agents. Add the measured cost of the models, capped per space per month. The amounts are on the Pricing page.

I use another support tool. Can I use 0seat?

Not directly: 0seat has no connector for another tool and promises none. It needs a Chatwoot instance; the free Community edition is enough. Write to us from the Contact page to look at a migration.
